My partner and I, booked a 2 night stay, at The Plough, Alnwick through Booking.com. Arriving on the 11th March, we were very satisfied with our room although I did comment, when the door was opened, how warm it was. After an hour or so, I popped down to the bar to ask if the heating could be turned down in our room. The young lady at reception/bar advised that it was OK for us to turn the radiator down and kindly offered to come do it for us but I was happy to do it myself. Radiator turned down, we hit the bars in Alnwick and I can highly recommend 'The Dirty Bottles' bar for great cocktails and food. We returned to The Plough around 10:30pm and on entering our room, it was stifling. The radiator was still red hot and the fan provided ,although great, was just blowing the hot air back at me. I am not one to normally complain but there was no way I could have slept comfortably in the heat so I headed down to speak with the young lady I had spoken to previously. Without hesitation, she accompanied me up to the room, to resolve the issue. On entering the room she immediately validated my concerns and unable to resolve the issue, she excused herself so that she could contact the hotel owner. On her return she advised us that we were being upgraded to the best room in the hotel and invited us to eat, for free, in the restaurant the next day. The owner, Jay Stone, even came to our room the next day to check all was well and confirm the offer of a free meal. Absolutely awesome customer service from all staff at The Plough. Our issue was dealt with efficiently and they went above and beyond to ensure our stay was a great one...well done guys, highly recommend your establishment to all.

Good sized room for visiting Alnwick for a wedding. Perfect location with free parking, I'd recommend using the carpark entrance two buildings up as the archway entrance is very tight, my parking sensors were having a meltdown going through. Nicely decorated room, comfy bed, big mirrors, accessible power sockets. No wardrobe but hanging space provided on a coat rack with a few clothes hangers, I'm not a fan of metal coat hangers though. Kettle in the room, plenty of tea bags, milk sachets and coffee pods (although I didn't know how to operate the coffee machine, no instruction manual). Simple access out of hours using a key fob to open the external door to your floor. Staff were very friendly and welcoming.

The host this evening, Paddy, was helpful and courteous, friendly, but not chummy with us, his elders and perfect strangers as we arrived. It's this kind of perfectly balanced customer service that inspired me. We spoke later in the bar, as we returned from our evening meal, and I enjoyed getting to know him and we spoke of life and our experiences. The room was windowless, but perfectly satisfactory for 2 or 3 nights

There was a young man called Dominic and a young lady called Rosie working.they were amazing. They were working so hard.Doing everything.serving the bar and the food. They were tireless…they could have done with at least one member of staff at least. They were running the whole place together,Dominic also sorted out new batteries for our tv remote…above and beyond when he as so busy.Well done Dominic and Rosie.

The Plough is in a great location, within easy walking distance of the town centre facilities. There is plenty of parking at the rear of the hotel. The member of staff who checked us in was friendly, helpful and explained all we needed to know. The room was small but clean and comfortable.
